In July 2023, a group of students from Western Sydney University Australia, majoring in the New Colombo Plan (NCP) program traveled to Vietnam for the first-ever Pebsteel factory tour at Dong Xuyen Industrial Park (Ba Ria -Vung Tau Province).

The tour is organized to provide students with practical insights into various business practices. Students have the opportunity to learn more about the manufacturing process and have an overview of the practical production line and working environment of enterprises. Students are also encouraged to open up their discussion with firms from different industries, fostering the exchange of ideas among fellow students.
Mr. Nabil Khalaf, General Manager – Pebsteel Vietnam made a warm welcome speech and introduced them to Pebsteel in general, as well as provided them with a straightforward way to increase general awareness of the industry, and exposed students to the pre-engineered building and structural steel manufacturing process. Mr. Nabil also shared with the students about company policies, CSR activities, and sustainable practices of what we do for the goal of sustainable development.

Continuing the speech of Mr. Nabil, the Head of Departments at Vung Tau Factory presented the functions of departments and our operating procedures, as well as the compliance with laws and regulations for employees, etc.

Students then got a private tour of the mega 6-factory complex. During the factory visit, they saw firsthand the production line, fully equipped with top-of-the-line modern machines from internationally acclaimed brands, and learned how Pebsteel’s high-quality steel plates qualified to ASTM standards are used to fabricate multiple steel structures and construction components for any pre-engineered steel building project in Vietnam or anywhere in the world. They also made a tour of different processing factories including the painting workshop and cold-formed steel processing plants where undertakes the work of rolling purlins with a high-quality rolling mill system and performs corrugated iron rolling for corrugated iron sheets with a maximum length of 12m. At the same time, students can observe the 5S principle being practically applied in the workplace.

This activity holds immense value as it provides an opportunity to showcase successful organizations in Vietnam to students from both Vietnam and Australia. We hope this factory tour will provide students from Western Sydney University Australia with several benefits by synthesizing and enhancing the knowledge that they have learned while supplementing practical experience in their studies, as well as taking advantage of the opportunity to subject-specific theoretical knowledge to a real-life production scenario.
